I was not able to attend last night's board meeting but I did listen to the workshop. The superintendent now states that he cannot allow all option 1 students to return to in-person learning 4 days per week. He is proposing a hybrid plan and not allowing 7,8,10,11,12 to return at least until Nov 12th. Here is an email that I sent to Dr Spence and the Board this morning sharing my concerns and questions since I was not able to be at the meeting. I am also advocating for a higher stipend for teachers.

Attending the meeting to address these concerns would have been the right thing to do. I too have a High school senior but we have worked college visits around our obligations and responsibilities. Now is not the hour to stir a pot you decided was bit important enough to attend.

Mrs. Manning always puts her family first, as it should be. Mrs. Manning takes education for her children and VBCPS students very seriously, so don’t shame her for not attending a board meeting. When an opportunity to visit a college your child has been working so hard to get comes along, you go.

I very rarely miss school board meetings but there are times that I must put family first. My son has applied to military academies and decisions may need to be made soon. One of the schools that he applied to he hasn't been able to visit because they have been locked down. We finally received a limited opportunity to visit the school and needed to take that opportunity. So, please don't accuse me of "stirring the pot" because I needed to take care of the needs of my son who desires to serve his country. Comments are closed.
