A VB Citizen through FOIA recently asked for out of town travel expenses for the superintendent. The citizen had to pay hundreds of dollars to receive the information. Among the documents were credit card statements for the Superintendent and Chief of Staff. The citizen shared some of the documents with me. After reviewing the information, I have requested our School Board Auditor to conduct an audit on credit card expenditures. This request must be approved by the audit committee, so I do not yet know if it will happen. Spending at local restaurants also appears excessive. School Board policy/regulation states that "reimbursement for meals while traveling within the city limits is discouraged..." This isn't just about the amount of money being spent, but the fact that taxpayers are footing the restaurant and travel bills for VBCPS leadership making $175,000 and $250,000. I'm guessing teachers don't go out to the Lynnhaven Fish house on the taxpayer dime. It is my firm belief that we do not have a funding problem, we have a spending problem. Superintendent Travel out of the area paid for on the taxpayer dime. ![]()

Why are take payers paying for local stuff, especially Whiskey Kitchen the Superintendent should pay for there own stuff local. I'd like to know why this spending abuse is being allowed. Ridiculous, these people makw good salaries but thinks it is ok to be lazy an make tax payers pay for things they can afford themselves. Corrupt people.

This is infuriating as a teacher who has to provide basic supplies (Kleenex, hand sanitizer, pencils, paper, etc) for my classroom out of my own pocket.

Why in the world do WE (VB citizens!) pay for all of this???? Shouldn't this money pay for BOOKS & SUPPLIES for schools?? This infuriates me because my daughter had to SHARE BOOKS in her classroom at TALLWOOD highschool because they did not want to open up any NEW books just SITTING UNWRAPPED in the school's storage closet!!!!

Does that one uber trip in Denver say $91(top left)? Wouldn't it be cheaper to rent an economy car for a week rather than uber? And what is this Whiskey Kitchen and why are all of the tax paying residents and parents invited to join them since we are paying for it anyways? Comments are closed.
